U13 Girls Football
Quest The U13 girls football team played round 2 of the National Cup on Wednesday 21st January. They beat North Gosforth Academy 9-1, a very impressive result, and they continue on their winning streak! Being down 3 players, the girls demonstrated brilliant resilience, with a few of them playing out of their normal positions, and in some very wet/muddy conditions. Geographers conquer mountains
Quest On Tuesday, Year 12 Geographers were investigating Glacial features in Easedale Valley. This involved us walking through the stunning glacial valley and idenitfying and orientating landforms to piece together Glacial direction. Pilot Studies in Keswick
Quest Our Year 12 Geographers on Monday had their first immersion into human field work data collection techniques. We were based in Keswick, Northern Lake District and pupils conducted land use mapping, mood mapping, questionnaires, re-photography, environmental quality surveys and a walkability survey. Anne Frank Exhibition

An Impressive Food Bank Collection
RISE Up and Shine Students across the school have been donating food and toiletries to support the most vulnerable and disadvantaged in our local communities this advent. Year 8 Magnetism Practical
Quest Students in Year 8 have been making their own temporary magnets using iron nails and paper clips. They have been able to make stronger or weaker magnets and this has allowed them to answer specific exam questions regarding making their own compasses if stranded on a desert island. Trade Wars in Year 12 Geography
Learning The Year 12 Geographers have been learning about the 'banana wars' and the role of countries, TNCs and the World Trade organisation in managing global trade. They took part in an international trade negotiation activity where different players had to present their views to the World Trade Organisation who were responsible for making a decision on the trade disagreement. This developed skills of oracy, debate and negotiation.

U13 Rugby Tournament
Quest Our U13s boys' rugby team enjoyed a friendly tournament against Bede and Blyth Academy. In the first match, despite starting well, Bede Academy soon showed their dominance with some excellent running to take the first game. U15 County Cup
RISE Up and Shine Last week the U15s travelled to QEHS to compete in the County Cup. SBB took the lead early on with a goal from Isaac M, QEHS equalised. SBB scored again through Isaac M. The match stayed very tight until the last 12 minutes. The very strong Hexham team scored a late flurry of goals and the game finished 5-2. Isaac M and Max B were awarded man of the match. Outstanding conduct and effort from all the boys.

RISE Up and Shine On Wednesday 14th January, we hosted John Spence Community High School in Round 1 of the U13 Girls ESFA. At half time, it was looking like a very close game with the score being 1-1. John Spence quickly scored in the second half, taking the score to 2-1. Drop Everything and Read!
RISE Up and Shine There was a surprise treat in store for the whole school last week as we enjoyed a festive story read aloud by our Year 12 drama students. The benefits of reading are countless, but in our increasingly busy world it can be hard to find the time to settle down with a good book. Year 12 French Detective Work

GCSE students were learning a challenging grammar point whilst trying to solve fun 'Cluedo' style clues. U15 County Cup football team progress
RISE Up and Shine Well done to the y10 boys who progressed to the next round of the u15 Blake Cup. The game was very tight and finished 2-2. John Spence scored first, then Niall D scored for SBB. John Spence took the lead again with 5 minutes to play. SBB did not give up and showed great determination and resilience, this was rewarded with a goal from Logan R with the last kick of the game. Out of this World
Learning As the monster makers club draws to a close the students are close to completing their monster, masks and prop projects. The students involved have learned a range of traditional and digital techniques and used them to create a varied range of props from popular computer games and TV along with their own creature design sculptures.
