Resilience

Fifteen Year 9 students took part in a two-hour workshop at Newcastle University aimed at developing their problem-solving skills in preparation for their upcoming GCSEs. The session involved students from six schools, split into small, competitive groups. Each team tackled a range of challenging GCSE-level problems under strict time limits and rules, earning tokens for correct answers marked by independent assessors.

Our students showed outstanding resilience and teamwork, supporting each other under pressure. From our three groups, one secured an impressive 3rd place out of 17 teams—an incredible achievement! Dr Henderson, Senior Lecturer, praised the students for their politeness and calm approach. They were a true credit to our school.
