Year 8 Goes to War… 17th-Century Style!

Year 8 had a fascinating visit from the Naseby Society yesterday, bringing our current History topic—the English Civil War—to life!

Students had the chance to get up close to a fascinating collection of weapons, armour and flags, helping them to picture what life was really like during this turbulent period. Adding a special historical connection, one of our guest speakers was a direct descendant of Sir Thomas Fairfax, founder of the New Model Army.

The highlight for many students was the opportunity to step into the shoes of a Parliamentarian or Royalist soldier, dressing up and discussing what life, challenges and experiences might have been like for those who fought in the Civil War.

A fantastic opportunity to take History beyond the classroom and bring the past vividly to life!
