Quest

Fifteen Year 10 students enjoyed their second afternoon at Baker Hughes this week as part of their four‑week industry experience. They heard from specialist engineers about their roles and how pipeline inspection tools are developed. Students visited the workshop floor to learn about the science behind identifying pipe defects, followed by an analytical session using real data to spot different issues. They also visited the 3D printing area and received a small printed gift.

The afternoon ended with a team challenge where students competed alongside another local school to design and test their own inspection tool on a pipe under varying conditions.

We’re already looking forward to our next visit.
