Sevens Rugby – Y8 Regional Tournament

On a sunny April afternoon our Y8 boys’ rugby team had a great start with 6 tries to 4 win over Bede Academy. Captain Aaron Bacon led from the front scoring a hat-trick of tries. Luke Gibson, Alex Freeman & Matthew Lewis also making the scoresheet. Some great attacking runs from Zac McHugh & Jake Atkinson were also nearly awarded with tries. The next game against Kings started equally with teams trading scores. Leo Todd ran through defenders powerfully throughout the tournament and was rewarded with a try. Aaron Bacon & Matthew Lewis also featuring on the scoresheet again. Isaac Lumsden & Morgan Day-Atkinson showed their scrummaging excellence to drive the opposition back. However, Kings were the slightly stronger and ran eventual victors by a narrow margin. Finally we took on Blyth, who we have already beaten this season. Aaron Clavering made some attempts to tackle Blyth’s quick winger. Lucas Morton had some good runs. Bacon again scored though we lost 6 tries to 1.
