Quest

During Quest Week, we were painting wooden tiles as part of an exciting project all about the history and stories of Northumberland and the North East. The project was called Voices of Place and will result in a mural of various scenes from Northumberland going up on one of exterior walls.

CAPTURING OUR COASTLINE

To tell our regional stories, we painted some of our local wildlife and places of interest such as Alnwick Garden, Bamburgh castle and Newbiggin beach.

The painting depicts a classic North East coastal character, the seagull! Whether you love them or not, they are a massive part of our local seaside life.

To paint this, students had to:

  • Transfer the image of the gull using graphite onto a wooden board

  • Trace the image

  • Paint the image using acrylic paint

Half the fun has been working together, sharing stories about nature and trying not to mess-up the paintings!

Here is what a year 10 student said about the project: “We get to express ourselves doing things we like”

Our paintings will be up on the wall soon. Come have a look!
