Learning
In March some of the sixth form visited CERN in Geneva to find out more about the world of Particle Physics. We had a tour of some of the experimental facilities, built our own particle detectors and visited the control room of the most cutting-edge science facility in the world. The learning taking place was not just limited to science though, we also visited the Palais des Nations (the European HQ of the United Nations), the History of the Red Cross Museum and the History of Science Museum.
Having taken the Telepherique du Saleve to a height of 1,100 m above sea level, some of the students decided that wasn’t high enough and we embarked on a quest towards the observatory, which was another 200 m higher. We also took time to explore our faith as we visited the St Pierre Cathedral in the old town which has overlooked Geneva for almost 900 years.
We still had time to enjoy ourselves as we went ten-pin bowling, completed challenges in The Cube and played giant chess in the park.
