Learning
Our Year 12 A level English Language students have certainly risen up and shone in their first two weeks of the course. Every member of the class has impressed staff with their dedication to homework and independent study experimenting with rewriting 'The Gruffalo' (in the style of Dahl and Dickens) and writing a helpful guide for aliens on 'How to have conversations with humans'. The class has been learning about how conversation works, as well as expanding their vocabulary with lots of new terminology.
Not to be outdone, our Year 13 Language students have also made a positive start to their Child Language Acquisition unit, finding out the different stages children go through when learning to talk. We've discovered more than the obvious reason why infants say 'mama' and 'dada' and why the 'th' sound is such a difficult one for toddlers.
