This half term holiday, the Sixth Form Book Club will be reading ‘The Catcher in the Rye’ by J.D. Salinger — a timeless coming-of-age novel that continues to resonate with young adults. Through the eyes of Holden Caulfield, we will explore themes such identity, alienation, and the challenges of growing up, all wrapped in Salinger’s distinctive voice. It’s hopefully a perfect choice for sparking thoughtful discussion and personal reflection, especially for young adults navigating their own transitions.

As the main character reflects, ‘What really knocks me out is a book that, when you're all done reading it, you wish the author that wrote it was a terrific friend of yours and you could call him up on the phone whenever you felt like it.’
