Year 9 are currently learning about overpopulation, and to help them understand the different factors that affect population change they took part in the Jelly Baby Geography game.

Each group were randomly allocated different population structures and they played a card game where different scenarios changed their population. Some students lost people to famine, war and disease, whilst others benefited from imaginary population policies that encouraged the population to increase.

At the end of the game they reflected on all the factors that cause a population to change and evaluated how their own populations had changed.
